Clarence-Boykins-240x319Welcome Clarence Boykins as the new President for the Tucson Jazz Society. A native of Miami Florida, Clarence grew up with jazz, blues, and gospel influences. From Count Basie to Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nancy Wilson, a love of jazz was cultivated. A veteran of the US Air Force, honorably discharged, Clarence worked for Levy’s as a retail buyer then moved on to work for the City of Tucson for 29 years, helping to shape and grow our city. Currently President & CEO of the Southern Arizona Black Chamber of Commerce, Clarence continues to volunteer his time with many organizations and is an active community activist, serving on a variety of boards. As President Clarence expressed, “I am excited to have this opportunity to energize and educate our community on the beauty of jazz in all of its forms.”

Carl attended the University of Southern California and currently works as GIS Admin for Tucson Electric Power Co. He received volunteer of the year in 2013 for TEP and has been active in the community for many years.
