The words most frequently used to describe the George Howard Band are high energy, versatile, and unique. “High energy” because their love for their music emerges with each performance. “Versatile” because they interpret an unusually wide range of blues and R&B styles and dance rhythms. And “unique” because whether they are performing an old classics or an original, these individuals have a style that is very much their own.
The George Howard band plays all types of contemporary music with close blues and R&B origins: Muddy Waters Chicago electric blues, Texas swing blues, and the compelling sounds of Motown. George Howard is the band’s founding member. As the band’s lead vocalist, George brings forth the band’s soul, spirit and humor. And when drumming, his chops propel the wide variety of infectious dance rhythms behind the expert musicians who are the George Howard Band.
The George Howard style, which varies from traditional to contemporary Rhythm and Blues, makes it impossible for listeners to sit quietly. Rather, the audience always finds themselves unable to stop shimmying, shaking or twisting either in their seats or on the dance floor.

An original musical production by flugelhornist and composer Dmitri Matheny, The SnowCat is the heart-warming holiday tale of a little girl’s search for her wandering white cat on a chilly afternoon and the life lessons she learns on the spirit of sharing and gratitude.
The SnowCat is based on the ancient Asian parable of The Oxherder, in which a herdboy’s quest to find his missing ox is likened to an individual’s journey through life.
As in the ancient parable, the hero of Dmitri Matheny’s The SnowCat finds her companion and returns home to appreciate the beauty of nature, play music, and have fun with friends. She maintains hope, optimism and determination in the face of adversity; discovers the gentle power of sitting quietly; and embodies the spirit of sharing and gratitude that make the holidays such a magical time.
“The SnowCat story is certainly spiritual, but it is secular, not religious, and thus it is universal. It contains great messages for both kids and adults,” Matheny says. “Children will appreciate the spirit of fun and friendship between Sam and the SnowCat. Adults may also view the story as an allegory or parable.”

JOHN JORGENSON QUINTET
Music virtuoso John Jorgenson, known for his blistering guitar licks and mastery of a broad musical palette, has earned a reputation as a world-class musician and guitarist who has collaborated with the likes of Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Bonnie Raitt and Bob Dylan. In addition to acoustic and electric guitars, he is also regularly featured on the saxophone, clarinet, bouzouki, pedal steel, mandolin, vocals and has garnered recognition for contributing to numerous platinum-selling and GRAMMY-winning albums.
Currently touring as the John Jorgenson Quintet, Jorgenson creates a unique musical experience that equally enthralls the most discerning and the casual music fan. The group’s style has been called “gypsy jazz” after the dynamic string-driven swing created by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in 1930s Paris, but Jorgenson’s compositions draw in elements from Latin, Romanian, Classical, Rock and Greek music, so “21st Century World Music” is perhaps a more apt description.
THE BLACK MARKET TRUST
The Black Market Trust is an American pop/vocal jazz band whose current release, II, combines the sound of the great American crooners and vocal groups with the romantic Eastern European gypsy fire of jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Consisting of five world class musicians who have traveled the globe recording and performing on the world’s biggest stages and with music’s most renowned artists, The Black Market Trust capitalizes on their experience and pedigree to deliver a sophomore album that brings a new and exciting sound to 12 tried and true classic songs.
The band’s all-instrumental debut studio album, The Black Market Trust, released in 2012, is widely regarded as a milestone in the gypsy jazz world. Through their debut album, lead guitarist Jeffrey Scott Radaich was acclaimed for his songwriting as well as technical prowess and musicality. He has been touted as one of the most innovative and influential American acoustic gypsy jazz guitarists today. With their first release, the band established themselves as leaders and innovators by combining pop “Brill Building” sensibilities with the traditional sounds of Django Reinhardt’s Hot Club of France Quintet. The animated Pencilmation video, A Hole New World featuring their song Referential Integrity has garnered over one million YouTube views.
With II ,The Black Market Trust has created an organic new sound that is daring, fresh and exciting, yet somehow still familiar and inviting. Combining old world romance with new world form, The Black Market Trust delivers a simple, elegant and well-defined classic sound.
THE HOT CLUB OF TUCSON
The Hot Club of Tucson (HCOT) was formed in 2004 by guitarist Allin Kibben (who has since left the group) to play the Tucson Folk Fest. Originally a 5-piece with rhythm guitar and clarinet, the group is now a trio consisting of violin, guitar and acoustic bass. HCOT is a gypsy jazz group that plays the charming and virtuosic jazz music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. Because of our American traditional jazz influences, however, we like to break out of the usually-defined roles and interact with each other more than is common in the French jazz style.
In 2013, HCOT released their 1st cd, Hot Club of Tucson LIVE!, a collection of the best recordings from three live concerts. HCOTs’ main gig for the last 5 years has been a weekly brunch at Hotel Congress on Sundays from 10:30 am-1:30 pm.
GONZALO BERGARA QUARTET
The all-acoustic Gonzalo Bergara Quartet plays a modern variant of 1930’s Django Reinhardt-inspired gypsy jazz. Composer and lead guitarist Gonzalo Bergara mixes a cascade of arpeggios with the sounds of Paris and his native Argentina. His first CD, Porteña Soledad, was Editor’s Pick in Guitar Player Magazine, and Vintage Guitar Magazine called it a “masterpiece.”
The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet consists of Gonzalo Bergara on lead guitar, Jeffrey Radaich on rhythm guitar, Leah Zeger on violin, and Brian Netzley on upright bass. The music is heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France, as well as the traditional jazz and music of Bergara’s true home, Buenos Aires. “Gonzalo Bergara’s music exists in a way that very little music does. He has lavished such care on every phrase, built each arrangement with such lapidary precision and pared away anything extraneous, the music becomes sculpture. It has weight, density, gravity. This is serious… and deeply moving.
