The JazzWerx gang

is Tucson Jazz Society’s premier jazz education program that provides high quality education and unduplicated opportunities through its excellent directors and teaching methods, clinics with world-renowned jazz artists, performance opportunities, partnerships with the University of Arizona and UA Presents and trips to events such as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Our band directors are accomplished jazz musicians as well as excellent educators. Curriculum includes improvisation, arranging and/or composition (combos), and jazz performance, technique, theory and history (combos and big bands).

As the educational component of the Tucson Jazz Society, JazzWerx is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of jazz musicians through learning the history of the music and using that knowledge to look towards the future. Students are challenged to develop their creativity and knowledge base, pushing them to new performance heights. Rehearsals are held every Sunday during the regular school year (except holidays) at the University of Arizona School of Music.
