![]() Scott, bemused by the antics of Carmen Lundy ![]() ![]() In concert at St. Phillp’s Plaza with Judy Roberts and Greg Fishman Scott is a jazz bassist and trumpeter who has been performing and teaching jazz since graduating from Indiana University in 1976 with a degree in jazz studies. Upon graduation he lived and worked with great jazz musicians in New York City for six years, Chicago for 20 years, and in Tucson the last seven years. He has studied and worked with innovative jazz educators David Baker, Jamey Aebersold, Paul Jefferies and Barry Harris. Scott has developed a clear and concise method of teaching improvisation that gets students understanding and playing the language of jazz from the first lesson. Scott has taught jazz to all instruments for 30 years including at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and as director of his own jazz school. In Tucson, Scott taught for the Tucson Jazz Society’s JazzWerx program in 2003-2004, the Arizona Jazz Academy 2004-2008, and is now at the new Tucson Jazz Institute. One of the busiest musicians in Tucson he performs regularly with the city’s finest; Jason Carder, Brice Winston, Greg Armstrong, Rob Boone, Jeff Haskell, Arthur Statman, Sly Slipetsky, Ed DeLucia, Matt Mitchell, Joe Bourne, John Ronstadt, Julie Anne, Pete Swan, Fred Hayes, etc. Scott is proud to have founded the Tucson Jazz Institute with Brice Winston and Doug Tidaback and is working to make it one of the finest and most innovative jazz education programs in the country. He is a Board member of the Tucson Jazz Society. |
