Welcome Clarence Boykins as the new President for the Tucson Jazz Society. A native of Miami Florida, Clarence grew up with jazz, blues, and gospel influences. From Count Basie to Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nancy Wilson, a love of jazz was cultivated. A veteran of the US Air Force, honorably discharged, Clarence worked for Levy’s as a retail buyer then moved on to work for the City of Tucson for 29 years, helping to shape and grow our city. Currently President & CEO of the Southern Arizona Black Chamber of Commerce, Clarence continues to volunteer his time with many organizations and is an active community activist, serving on a variety of boards. As President Clarence expressed, “I am excited to have this opportunity to energize and educate our community on the beauty of jazz in all of its forms.”
